Psychology Today weighs in … it’s not all bad
I’m pleased to see that the author of this article in Psychology Today’s blog agrees that all fetishes aren’t bad, “as long as no one is being hurt.” Safe, sane, consensual adult spanking does not hurt anyone other than the requisite sting and pain associated with the act itself. When done properly with good communication and care, a spanking can be a wonderful experience. Follow the link to read the entire article, and see the list of the ten weirdest fetishes.

…
The Victorian Era also spawned another fetish: spanking.
Myriad engravings, photos, and fantasy novellas depicting spanking and flagellation were circulated secretly among the conservative Victorians. I wonder if Lady Bumtickler’s Revels ever became a best seller.
So who else likes getting spanked?
Apparently lots. Spanking magazines were hits in the 1980s. They featured spank fiction and photos that catered to both man-spank-woman and woman-spank-man audiences.
A google search reveals that there are about 2,740,000 websites relevant to “spanking fetishes.” Still, it’s considered abnormal or strange.
So, I can’t help but think: Are fetishes bad?
Not necessarily. Dr. Daniel Harrop says, “There is nothing particularly wrong with fetishes, as long as no one is being hurt.” …
Loving Red-Cheeked Erotica
“Just as I have a seemingly endless capacity to bare my ass and get it smacked soundly or make a squirming bottom hover on the edge of erotic oblivion with loud, ringing, stinging whack after whack, I don’t think I’ll ever get tired of reading stories about spanking.” Thus begins Rachel Kramer Bussel’s introduction to her new anthology Spanked: Red-Cheeked Erotica. I can’t help but think that therein, also, lies Rachel’s brilliance, dedication, and focus in providing spanking erotica to the rest of us.
Erotica Revealed has stated that “Ms. Bussel is the current mistress of intensity in spanking fiction.” Nothing in Spanked: Red-Cheeked Erotica dissuades us from that notion. There is something for everyone regardless of your adult spanking inclinations or persuasions.
Elizabeth Coldwell’s Through a Glass, Sharply is one of the stories in Spanked. It deals with the repercussions for a husband of embarrassing his wife during an important dinner party. All of we bottoms have done it, right? The faux pas that cannot be ignored, and is to be dealt with later? That feeling of inevitability when protocol is to be followed? Certainly, the Tops among us can relate to the rush that occurs just as the corrective event unfolds, and our needs are to be met? Ms. Coldwell partially describes these feelings as follows:
Even though he has been expecting it, Elliott still starts guiltily as the door opens and I step into the living room. He is waiting in the position I requested, the position I always request: standing facing into the corner with his hands clasped behind his back, thinking on what he has done. Though he’s removed his jacket and loosened his tie over the course of dinner, I told him to put them back on properly; stripping my husband out of his formal work attire is all part of the pleasure of the scene for me. You have never really known power until the man you love is at your feet, naked or very nearly so, helpless and vulnerable, while you remain fully dressed and completely in control.
Spanked: Red-Cheeked Erotica is a keeper. It’s fun. I have certainly enjoyed it. Tomorrow’s tour stop is Viviane’s Sex Carnival. All the latest information is available at Rachel’s spanking blog.
