To brat or not?
As Spring approaches in the Northern Hemisphere, many of us are preparing to attend spanking events of some form or another. An oft used practice to solicit a spanking is “bratting.” Todd & Suzy at the American Spanking Society have an excellent overview on bratting protocol that serves us all well to read. Much of it is common sense, but, in my experience, many folks leave common sense at the door when at a spanking party. In its purest form, bratting could be considered a form of negotiation, but let’s let Todd & Suzy discuss it:
[W]e thought we’d talk a little about “bratting” at spanking parties. For those that don’t know, bratting is when a spankee playfully does something that will earn a spanking. An example might be something like sticking a tongue out or “hiding” a paddle.
As simple as that sounds, it sure seems to get confusing. So, we thought we’d throw our Two Cents out there and share our thoughts, advice and opinions. Now, this is free and unsolicited… so you know what it’s worth! We have been to several spanking parties through the years though, so hopefully there will be a few nuggets of value here.

It’s time to celebrate
Last year, Todd & Suzy of American Spanking Society, founded Consensual Spanking Day. They explained that ” “mainstream” media and culture are constantly putting spanking down. Consensual Spanking Day is our chance as a community to stand together and put this thing we do in the positive light it deserves. It’s a chance for us all embrace and celebrate spanking… and it’s a good excuse to have some spanking fun!”
Well folks, July 3 is approaching again, and we’re gearing up for the second annual Consensual Spanking Day. Naturally, all spanking should be consensual. So, there is no excuse for interested adult Tops everywhere to dust off those implements, or warm those hands, to deliver much deserved and desired spankings to those you cherish. Likewise, there is no excuse for desirous bottoms to ask for those well-deserved swats you crave. And, what a perfect lead in to the July 4th Independence Day holiday here in the USA.
