NEW YORK, Oct. 26 – (UP) – A jury has decided that Harry K. Thaw must pay $79,000 damages for administering what probably is the world’s most expensive spanking. The verdict was brought In late yesterday after the jury on the first ballot, decided that Marcia Estardus, night club hostess, was entitled to that sum for injuries she suffered when Thaw spanked her with a hair brush on New Years Day, 1927.
I kind of wonder what happened to Marcia Estardus. And how brutally do you have to spank someone to rack up $79,000 in damages.

If it’s the Harry K. Thaw I think it is, then big money was involved. H.K. Thaw was the murderer of Stanford White, the architect and the designer of the first Madison Square Garden. Big scandal involving Thaw’s wife, Evelyn Nesbit. She was one of White’s models and they may (and I think did) have a Master/slave relationship (though it would be considered D/s now). Two good movies about this are The Girl in the Red Velvet Swing (which starred Joan Collins whom is a fetish fantasy of mine) and Ragtime which depicts the murder as well. Nesbit was a bit naive some say but I think the girl knew what she was getting used to. Thaw was known to be rough with his women (Evelyn among them) and after he was released from the insane asylum (he got off the murder on an insanity plea) continued being in the wrong side of the news. He was arrested in the ’20’s for horsewhipping and sexually assaulting a 13 year old boy.
Stanford White’s life bears a little investigating. He was obviously a Dominant and there’s only brief sketches of his predilections by women with whom he was associated.
