From Wikipedia: “A carpet beater or mattenklopper (from Dutch) is a tool used to clean carpets and rugs by hanging them up and beating them. It is usually made of willow switches woven together in a knot similar to a flattened Turk’s head. The number of strands determines the rigidity of the mattenklopper. A two-strand mattenklopper … would be more flexible than a three- or four-strand mattenklopper.”
Here we have a small, tightly wound, three-strand mattenklopper that must feel very much like a paddle.

OUCH!
Oh those are fun looking. I’ve always thought they are a bit pricey, though.
Mitch, if you remember, the two implements I made called “the ladies”, they were based on this toy. I’m not sure if I have pictures of them or not.

We’d love to feature pictures of your home made implements, Ms Betty, if you can find them. Devious creativity is always fun!
Where did you buy this? They look like fun, but I have not been able to find a place to get one.
