A healthy, happy new year to one and all!

Just getting started

The Halfway House
From mensnewsdaily.com, we read the following excerpts from a Christmas Day article penned by Denise Noe.
Interview with Joseph Tatner who plays the spanking priest in The Halfway House
… One of the film’s odd characters, Father Fogerty, is likely to raise thoughts of the recent sex scandals involving Roman Catholic priests, as Fr. Fogerty is a cleric who loves paddling the bottoms of naughty young ladies. I interviewed actor Joseph Tatner, who plays the part, about his feelings regarding it. I was especially interested in his thoughts on the role since Tatner is a practicing Roman Catholic and once studied for that church’s seminary. …
DN: How do you feel about playing a spankophile?
JT: I don’t really see Fr. Fogerty as a “spankophile.†I think of him more like a parent who says, “I’m doing this for your own good.†I see him as very clinical. He studies from all sorts of source material and applies what he learns. He probably writes notes afterwards on the effects different punishments have on the girls. The real evil in this world is often done by people who never see it in themselves but point the finger at everyone else. …
I must admit that i had not heard of this film until just now. One review states that Father Fogerty is:
… a graying priest played to over-the-top perfection by handsome Joseph Tatner. A hard-core spanking aficionado, [who] never misses a chance to make an erring young woman pull her skirt up, her panties down, and bend over his desk so he can apply a paddle or whip to her bottom. Tatner always has a gleam in his eye and a suitably lugubrious smile as he pinkens some round and pretty bare butts.
The Halfway House is not all about spanking, and does appear to set a comedic balance between and among several socially explosive issues. The review quoted above concludes that The Halfway House “should be seen by grown-ups who like good camp and humorously raunchy scenes and aren’t averse to a religious setting for them.”
The Halfway House is available on DVD.
We all know that being in jail stinks, but …
Inmate’s flatulence sparks jail fight
NORTH PLATTE, Neb. – Brian Bruggeman caused a stink at the Lincoln County Jail earlier this month and will now have to answer for it in court. Another inmate, Jesse Dorris, alleges that Bruggeman’s flatulence, passed in close proximity to Dorris, sparked a Dec. 14 fight between the two at the jail.
Now Bruggeman, 38, faces a Jan. 11 preliminary hearing on the state’s complaint of assault by a confined person. It’s a felony punishable by up to five years in prison. …
Naughty Spanking Stories
I’m told that this is a friend of Rachel Kramer Bussel, editor of Naughty Spanking Stories from A to Z, volume 2, being playfully spanked with the first edition of Spanking Stories … this truly is a multi-purpose anthology.

Handprints
It takes a mighty whack to leave prints like these. Art is a thing of beauty.

Going Mainstream
MSNBC.com is running a series of articles on “sexploration” as part of their America Unzipped series. While several of the articles address various aspects of bondage, discipline, and fetish, the following piece is devoted to those topics. It’s refreshing to see the mainstream media offering a balanced treatment on this. Given the many television programs and movies that now include BDSM, it is safe to say that kink is going more public and is more widely accepted.
An oft-discussed issue in kink circles is “where did this interest come from?” MSNBC.com’s paper comments on one woman’s recollections related to her spanking interest. Like many of us, she found herself in a marriage where her spouse did not understand her need and did not satisfy that need. From the captioned article:
… Many trace their interest in alternative sex practices to youth, or even childhood. “My earliest memory — I didn’t even know about sex — was the warm feeling a spanking would give me,†… “When I couldn’t sleep as a girl, if I thought about spanking, I could drift off.†She was married to the same man for 31 years “but I could not get my husband to hit me for anything.†She’s now involved with a “master†who obliges. …
Personally, my interest in spanking evolved from pure fantasy to action before the Internet. One day, I realized that all the spanking books, magazines, ads, toys, etc. were not being marketed on the hope that I, and only I, would happen along. Naturally, my interest exploded with the internet as did my introduction to real-life groups and places to engage in spanking on a safe, sane, consensual basis. The role of the Internet is discussed on MSNBC.com as follows:
… The Internet has been a powerful force in the mainstreaming of fetish. For example, the day … got a connection, she typed “spanking†into a search engine and realized for the first time “that I was not the only person in the world.†…
Bottom line, I submit that kink is, and has been, much more prevalent than anyone suspected, and that it will continue to come “out of the closet.” This is particularly noteworthy considering the prior post on this blog related to the Museum of Sex’s upcoming exhibit on Kink. The hope, now, is that naysayers and sexual purists will realize that people want and are comfortable with more than the missionary position. Also, some kinksters use their play in a non-sexual manner (e.g., traditional spankers who focus on discipline alone). It’s all OK. For now, let’s relish the fact that we’re becoming more mainstream.
Kink on display
Hat tip to Gloria Brame for pointing us to this:
KINK: Geography of the Erotic Imagination to open
NEW YORK – Become a tourist in the world of kink, fetish and fantasy as the Museum of Sex opens its latest exhibition, KINK: Geography of the Erotic Imagination, on February 8, 2007. Based on the work of social anthropologist Katherine Gates, the Museum of Sex’s most hands-on, interactive exhibition to date will take museum patrons on an eye-opening tour through the geography of sexual fantasy. …
Do As You’re Told
Yes, Ma’am!

The paddle has landed …
… and I’m trying to decide if this young lady is beginning to squeal in delight or pain? Perhaps more strokes will change the expression. One must admit, however, that her bottom is perfectly positioned over the pillows so that the paddle has a clear path to the “sweet spot.”

Merry Christmas
